Porter Eichenlaub

Meet Porter

I've been facilitating growth, learning, healing, and transformation in a wide range of capacities for over fifteen years - from K-12 classrooms to wilderness rites of passage programs, running men’s groups, designing social-emotional learning trainings for educators to designing and facilitating retreats. What drives me is witnessing the profound shifts that happen when someone reclaims their wholeness and power by engaging thoughtfully and courageously with life as a journey of self-discovery and growth.

I don't believe that psychotherapy is simply a profession—it's a vocational calling. I bring all of myself to our work because I've learned that real healing happens in an authentic relationship between two whole people. While I'm currently an intern therapist completing my graduate education at NYU, I've been training in therapeutic modalities and working with individuals as a coach and group facilitator for well over a decade.

My own therapeutic journey spans over a decade with therapists, coaches, mentors, and healers who form a critical support system for my growth and understanding. This extensive personal experience, combined with professional training and practice, shapes everything I bring to our work together. When I'm not immersed in this world, I make music, spend time in nature, travel, and nurture the community connections that keep me grounded and inspired.

Therapy with me is a true collaboration. I adapt my approach based on your goals, personality, preferences, and past experiences. I combine psychodynamic work (understanding how your past affects your present) with somatic and mindfulness-based approaches that help us get beneath overthinking to access the deeper wisdom of your body and emotions. While traditional talk therapy and analyzing your past can yield important insights, I believe it has limitations when used in isolationalone. I use a relational approach because I don't believe that rigid "expert-client" dynamics - where I'm the wise therapist dispensing insights - yields lasting change. Instead, we will build a real, honest, two-way, trusting relationship in service of your goals and healing.
